Dr Adèle Greyling

Dr Adèle Greyling was raised in Pretoria and obtained her MBChB degree from the University of Pretoria. After completing her internship and community service in George, she spent four years in the United Kingdom, where she specialized in Paediatrics and became a member of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health.

Upon returning to South Africa, she established a private paediatric practice in Port Elizabeth (now Gqeberha). In 2011, she joined the Cardiology Department at Dora Nginza Hospital, where she sub-specialized in Paediatric Cardiology under the mentorship of the late Professor Lungile Pepeta.

Dr Greyling was awarded a prestigious two-year fellowship in Leuven, Belgium, where she trained in invasive electrophysiology (EP) and catheter ablation in both adult and paediatric patients. She also specialized in the implantation and follow-up of various cardiac devices across all age groups. She received her European Heart Rhythm Association (EHRA) accreditation for implantable devices in 2015 and invasive electrophysiology in 2016.

On her return to South Africa, Dr Greyling established the first dedicated electrophysiology unit in the Eastern Cape and was appointed Head of the Clinical Unit: Electrophysiology and Paediatric Cardiology at Dora Nginza Hospital. She played an instrumental role in the training of medical students, registrars, and paediatric cardiology fellows.

Dr Greyling is currently based at Mediclinic Vergelegen Hospital in Somerset West, where she is dedicated to diagnosing and treating cardiac arrhythmias in patients of all ages—from foetuses to the elderly. She has a special interest in managing arrhythmias in patients with congenital heart defects, which has led to her appointment as an Honorary Consultant at:

• Nelson Mandela Children's Hospital

A passionate advocate for patient education and awareness in electrophysiology, Dr Greyling has contributed extensively to the field through academic publications and international speaking engagements. She is a published author in several peer-reviewed journals and has co-authored a chapter in the 4th edition of Diagnosis and Management of Adult Congenital Heart Disease (Elsevier). She serves on the editorial board of the German journal Herzschrittmachertherapie + Elektrophysiologie and regularly reviews for other local and international journals.
